Arthur A. Gregory
Of Chenango Bridge
Arthur A. Gregory, 94, of Chenango Bridge, NY, passed away peacefully at Wilson Memorial Hospital on February 18, 2017. Arthur was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Martha Gregory. Arthur is survived by his daughters; Ellen Wandling and husband Bill, and Clare and her husband Frank. He is also survived by some very special nieces and nephews. Arthur was also predeceased by his brother Ted Gregory who passed away in February 2014.
Art is very proud of his military service to our country during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was in the Army stationed in Japan and the Philippines. He loved to tell stories of his Army days and perhaps his favorite tale is of when he saw General MacArthur in his motorcade. Art saluted and Gen. MacArthur and the General saluted back! Art graduated from Syracuse University and spent most of his career working for the Broome County Probation Department. He retired from Probation in 1985 which gave him time to concentrate on his true passion in life, which was flying. Art got his private pilot license in 1961 and has been flying the friendly skies ever since! He loved to take family and friends up with him, and, of course, was very devoted to his flying buddies. Art and Martha also loved to travel. Their very favorite destination was Alaska and they vacationed there several times. They both loved the out-of-doors and hiking and especially bird-watching.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Campus for their very good care of Arthur, he entered Hilltop in November, 2015.
