Lorelei “Lori” Fynboe (née Hanson) passed away on June 1, 2017 after an illness. She was 75.
Lori was born in Scotia, NY, to her parents, Norman and Madeline Hanson. She graduated from Russell Sage College with a degree in nursing in 1965. The following year, Lori married Roy Fynboe and the couple settled in Binghamton, where she worked as an RN for both the Broome County Health Department and Susquehanna Nursing Home, until her retirement around 2009.
A passionate traveler and reader, Lori was also an active member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, a 50 year member of the Danish Sisterhood of America and, along with her husband, multiple Masonic organizations. She will be remembered for many things – most notably her hospitality, friendliness, compassion, and her skills with a Scrabble board.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; her son, Scott; her daughter-in-law, T.A. Noonan; and her brother, Norman O. Hanson, Jr. and his wife Jan. Also surviving her are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, especially Linda and Larry Barry, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Judith.
A Memorial will take place on June 13, 2017, beginning at 11am the family will receive friends until time of the service at 12:00 noon. at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church on Upper Front St. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lori’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Russell Sage’s undergraduate nursing program Russell Sage College 65 1st Street Troy, NY 12180.
