Obituary

Anna Spawn, of Binghamton

It is with overwhelming grief and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Anna Spawn, 36, of Binghamton, NY.  Anna lived life on her own terms – embracing every moment. Nothing stopped her from enjoying what she loved to do. Anna fearlessly battled cancer head on with the same courage and strength she exuded throughout her entire short life.  Anna is predeceased by her father, Robert Spawn, and her brother, Nicholas Spawn.  Anna was the epitome of a strong single mother and leaves behind three beautiful children: Carter 17, Jordan 11, and Keaton 7. She is survived by her mother Patti Nelson Corrente, two brothers, Wayne and Patrick Spawn, a sister Dawn Sayman, and a large extended family of grandmothers, aunts, and cousins. Anna was also a godmother to Zac and Tate, who she adored, and more like a sister to her closest friends.  Anna grew up in Newark Valley, NY, and actively maintained her childhood friendships. There was rarely a weekend she didn’t have plans for a baby shower or birthday party. No celebration was complete without her.  Anna had a small-town-girl heart of gold. Simple joys and meaningful relationships were what mattered most to her. She religiously planned her children’s parties’ months in advance - always ordering sensational cupcakes from the same friend, every year, times three.  Anna was sharp and organized, meticulous about dates and anniversaries, and never missed an opportunity to recognize the people she loved.  Anna started working for Broome Developmental Services in 2007. She was incredibly hard working, reliable, diplomatic, and diligent in caring for the people that resided both at the center, and most recently at a residential facility - where she will be sorely missed by coworkers and individuals she cared for.  The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to the many friends who assisted in the care of the children, supplied meals and provided support this challenging year. Carter, Jordan, and Keaton have all inherited their mother’s fierce spirit and resilience and will be always surrounded by the love Anna gave generously throughout her life.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home. 71 Main St. Binghamton, NY Saturday December 18th from 2-4pm.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s memory to benefit the children to Christina Barrett Cash app $czbarr or Venmo @christina-barrett-86.
