Benjamin B. Rouff, 97 of Binghamton, passed away Sunday September 25th at his home.

Born March 11, 1914 in Syracuse, NY. the son of the Late Jacob and Katie (Rosenbloom) Rouff and loving husband of the late Ada Rouff. His brothers Harold and Leonard also predeceased him.

Benjamin graduated from Union Endicott High School where he excelled at Football and Track and Field, he later attended Cornell University. In 1935 Benjamin married Ada Schwab. He was the President of Rouff Furniture and then CEO of Olum’s Furniture in Binghamton. Benjamin was instrumental in developing the Employee Stock Ownership Plan, the first of its’ kind in the Southern Tier. He was a lifelong member of the Vestal Hills Country Club and involved in developing their present location. He  was a member of Temple Israel Synagogue, and the Jewish Community Center.
Benjamin was nationally well respected in the furniture industry, and a member of the National Home Furnishing Association. He was very generous to many area charities.  Benjamin was a extremely devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  

Surviving Benjamin are his children; Dr. Lawrence (Lana) Rouff, of Vestal, Linda (Gerald) Rosenbaum, of Buffalo, and Dr. Stuart (Victoria) Rouff, of Vestal. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren , his brother Gilbert (Rose Ann) Rouff of Quaker Lake, PA.  several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his special friend Isabelle Levene, of Binghamton.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday September 27th at 2:30 p.m. at Temple Israel Synagogue 4737 Deerfield Place Vestal, NY with Rabbi Tziona Szajman officiating. Internment will follow at Temple Israel-Riverside Cemetery in Conklin, NY. The family will observe Shiva Tuesday at Benjamin’s’ home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to caregivers Tammy, Shannon, Pam and Lourdes Hospice. Arrangements are with the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street, Binghamton NY .Those wishing may direct memorial donations in lieu of flowers to either Lourdes Hospice or the Jewish Community Center.
