Ras Charles Venice Jones 66, of Binghamton N.Y. passed on March 27, 2012 in his home.
Born January 12, 1946 in Harlem N.Y. The son of late William McKinely Jones of Monticello Florida and Daisy Minerva Perry-Jones of Cheraw South Carolina. His brother William Jones preceeded him in death.
Ras Charles was educated in a catholic boarding school. He attended High School with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Music became an important part of Ras Charles' life early on. Which in turn helped him overcome major adversities. Music was the necessary therapy for his soul. Because of the powerful healing that music gave him he wanted to share that with the world. Ras Charles' Reggae show Irration Vibration @ WHRW aired for more than 20 years @ Binghamton University. His love for Reggae music and it's culture has allowed him to influence and educate so many people all over the world. He was a true souljah and icon. It was his loving heart and spirit that drew many people to him and made him shine brighter than the rest.
He is survived by his daughter Tawana Jones 37 of Coral Springs Florida, his Son Seth Emmanuel Gottesman -Jones 23, of Binghamton N.Y. Ras Charles' children were his greatest creation. He loved them both dearly and they were his true pride and joy.

Memorial Sevices will be held @ Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street Binghamton N.Y. 13905 Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 5:00 pm An hour of visitation will proceed the service.
