Claudia Brown Obituary

Claudia Ann Brown
10/20//1946 — 5/23/2020
Claudia had been a long-time resident of the ACHIEVE-IRA at Helen Street, Binghamton, and lived independently for over 30 years at 100 Chenango Place.
She was one of the original beneficiaries of the Broome County AHRC (later named ARC and is now named ACHIEVE).  Her father and mother, Clyde and Elsie Brown, were among the community of parents who were founders of the organization. Claudia was educated in Binghamton and as a child attended the Pine Street School which had been established with the help of the AHRC. She completed her special education at Columbus School and soon began her first and only job. Claudia worked for the United Methodist Homes (Elizabeth Church Manor) for over 55 years as a Dietary Aide. She never retired, but converted to part time employment in her later years.
She enjoyed countless journeys with family and with People and Places, Inc., visiting: Hawaii, Arizona, Bahamas, England, San Francisco, Ontario, Holland, Puerto Rico, and a Disney Cruise, to name a few. She was always ready for a long ride in a car for travel, for family visits or holidays, or just a change of scenery. She enjoyed many summer days at the family cottage on Highland Lake in Pennsylvania. Claudia was active in her youth and participated in ARC sponsored square dancing, bowling, and swimming. She became quite a hobbyist and enjoyed cross-stitching, rug hooking, crossword puzzles, and reading.  Claudia embraced life fully, made friends easily, enjoyed her work and her activities, was always welcome, and will be sorely missed.
Claudia is survived by:
Brother Norman A. Brown
and Sister in Law Elaine V. Brown, of Norfolk, VA
Brother Gordon W. Brown
and Sister in Law Alisa Brown, of Boiceville, NY
Niece Dora K. B. Roenigk
and husband Dr. Timothy Roenigk, of Red Lion, PA
Niece Zoë Eva Brown of Syracuse, NY
