Doreen Barber Almy Lee died on November 2 at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton at age 90.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Almy to whom she was married for over 50 years. She was predeceased by a son, Christopher, her mother, Hilda Fell Barber, and her father, Charles Barber.
She is survived by her husband and great companion of five years, Robert H. Lee. She is also survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann White of Nantucket, Massachusetts; her son-in-law, Mark F. White; grandchildren Nicholas Linebaugh, Jessica and William Hutcheson and David White. She has four great-grandchildren: Cole and Sage Linebaugh and Otis and Henry Hutcheson. She is survived by nephew Leonard Almy and his wife, Carol and her niece, Margot Scott.. She is survived by Bob and Sandy Kreidler and Doug Koban and Mary Stoeckel and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a large family in England.
Doreen was a longtime employee of GAF (Anitec). She was an active member of Christ Church for many years, and a volunteer at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. She loved all things English (was a member of English Club), her Jefferson Avenue neighborhood, high heels and beautiful hats. She will be sorely missed by all her friends and family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, November 5 at Christ Church Episcopal Church, at 11 a.m., preceded by a gathering of friends and family at 10. Interment will be at 1:30 at Calvary Cemetery.
