The family of Dorothy Banker is saddened to announce the passing of
our mother on Friday, July 18th in Teaneck, New Jersey. Born November
14, 1921 in New York City, she was a very proud graduate of Hunter
College, receiving a BA in English. The loving wife of Abraham Banker
for 53 years, the 2 of them moved from West Hempstead, New York to
Binghamton which became their cherished home and community. Mom lived
a life of service, dedicating energy to organizations such as United
Way, Meals on Wheels, and her beloved synagogue, Temple Concord.
Her sharp mind, her constant curiosity, and her courage through
challenging times will continue to inspire us. She is mourned by her
three children, Michael, Rhea, and Stephen Banker; their spouses,
Teela, Clare and Susan; her grandchildren, Evan and his fiancé
Shelley, Elissa and her fiancé Peter, Benjamin, and Meredith. The
family requests memorial contributions be made to the Abraham and
Dorothy Banker Leadership Fund at Temple Concord, 9 Riverside Drive,
Binghamton, New York 13905.
