Dr. Edward S. Karshan, 72, of Binghamton passed away Wednesday February 23, 2011 at Binghamton General Hospital.
Born April 1, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the Late Irving and Anna Karshan, and beloved husband of the Late Anitra (Von Burg) Karshan who passed away in 2007.
Edward graduated from the MJ Lewi School of Podiatry in NY, NY. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Reserves from 1961 until 1966. He was married to Anitra Von Burg in July of 1962. He opened his practice first in Massena, NY, in 1962. Edward retired from his practice in 2009. He loved to play tennis, racquetball, and basketball and followed the New York Football Giants, the Mets and the New York Rangers. Edward was an avid reader, especially enjoyed traveling with Anitra on yearly vacations, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving Edward are his two daughters and sons in law, Jodi (Kim) Josse, of Binghamton, Amy (Joseph) Sangaline, of Clifton Park, NY also his grandchildren Joshua and Rachel Sangaline, his sister, Deborah (Stanley) Futoran, of Hauppauge, LI. Also his special Burmese Cat “Java”.
Funeral Services will be held Friday March 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street, Binghamton, NY. Rabbi Barbara Goldman-Wartell will officiate Those wishing may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society 31 Adams Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
