Erika Helene Rauch
of Johnson City
Erika Helene Rauch, 87 of Johnson City passed away Wednesday March 14, 2012.
Born February 9, 1925 in Heidelberg in the black forest in Germany, the daughter of the Late Lina (Schuhmacher) and Albert Hoffman. Erika is also predeceased by her brother Albert.
Erika grew up in Weinheim an der Bergstasse in central Germany, she emigrated to the U.S. after WWII with her husband Emil Bruno Rauch 1954, lived initially in St Louis, MO , later moved to Binghamton 1955, and later Port Dickinson where she lived until 2009.
Erika had many diverse interests; longtime supporter of the Arts in Binghamton, Binghamton Symphony, Roberson Center, and Tri-Cities Opera in particular. She volunteered for 25 years with Meals-on-Wheels, also many years working with United Way. She earned a Master Gardner certification through the Cornell Co-Operative Extension and helped establish the heath and heather garden at Cutler Botanical Gardens on Upper Front Street
Surviving Erika are her loving husband Emil at Hilltop Campus of the United Methodist Home in Johnson City, and their two daughters; Michele and Kenneth Landers of Morris, NY and her two children Paul and Amy, Annette Rauch of Rhode Island and her two children Sean and Melissa as well as various relatives in Germany.
