Binghamton: Esther Goldstein Bernstein, 86, passed away quietly surrounded by her family on February 15, 2011. She is predeceased by her husband, Irving Bernstein; her parents Rose and Benjamin Goldstein; her brother Milton Goldstein; and her beloved sister Ruth Goldstein Azersky. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ken and Jane Bernstein (Hyde Park); Stu and Rose Bernstein (Omaha); Skip and Ronni Bernstein Kitay (New City); and Jeff and Pam Bernstein (Cincinnati); her grandchildren, Keith and wife Claire McManus; Ross Kitay; Kate, Sean, Ashley, LaShanna, Josh and Jeremy Bernstein; great-grandson, Evan McManus; best friend and cousin Harriet Kator Ribler; her loving nieces, nephews, cousins and their children; and Reverend Tim and Peggy Bennett, who are like a son and daughter to Esther and Irving. Esther and her children wish to thank her family physician, Dr. Marek Gawel, and cardiologist, Dr. John DiMenna; the ICU staff at Lourdes Hospital; and the nursing/rehab team at General Hospital Sandiford Rehabilitation. Special thanks to the excellent staff at Fairview Nursing Home “C” unit for their care and compassion. Esther will be remembered by all who knew her for her wonderful sense of humor and her devotion to her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, 71 Main St., Binghamton on Thursday February 17th at 1:30 pm with calling hours at 1:00 pm until time of the service. Interment will follow at Temple Israel- Riverside Cemetery, Conklin, NY.
