Gail Elise Schmick died peacefully in her sleep July 4, in her 78th year, after a five month struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was predeceased by her parents George and Gladys Schmick, and her sister Kay Hinkley. She is survived by her spouse of over 40 years, Ronald Clupper; her children, Mark Husted and Elaine Husted; her step children, Marc(o) Clupper and Amy Greiner; granddaughters Olivia Husted and Isabelle Husted; and step-grandchildren Patrick Greiner and Rachel Greiner.
Gail grew up in Hallstead Pa. and was a graduate of Mansfield University with a degree in music education. She settled and lived in the Binghamton area for fifty plus years and was well known in the musical community because of her profession as a piano tuner as well as organist for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton and as a substitute organist for many churches in the area.
Gail made the world a better place and she will be grievously missed by her myriad friends and family. A memorial service is planned for August 28 at the UU Congregation in Binghamton. The best way to honor her is to be inspired by her example and commit random acts of kindness in her memory.
