Helen M. (Lucas) Guido, 82, fell asleep in the loving arms of her Lord on October 5th, 2010 at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen Lucas and Mary Stellmack Lucas, her brother Edward Lucas, her brother-in-law, William Kurey, and the father of her three daughters, Edward J. Guido.
Helen enjoyed cooking, reading, planting, mystery shows and shopping. She worked as the secretary to the president at Fair Play Caramels for over twenty years until her retirement in 1986. Helen was a member of the Democratic National Committee. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Those who knew her will always remember her hats. Helen was a devout catholic whose faith was her greatest strength and comfort.
Surviving Helen are her thee daughters; Patricia and Dr. Basil Selden, of Louisiana, Donna and Larry Brunner, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Barbara Guido, of Endwell, NY. She is also survived by her grand children; Alexandria Guido Yager, (Duffy) Howard E. Newman III, step grandson, Matthew Brunner, great grand children; Jessica Guido, John Yager, and Jeremy Yager and great-great grand daughter Jalynn Guido. Helens sisters; and brother-in-law also survive, Mary Lou Kurey, of Vestal, NY, Elizabeth (Betty Jane) Yetsko, and Edward Yetsko of Vestal as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call Sunday October 10th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street Binghamton NY. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be at the convenience of the family.
