Jacob Sklover , 91, former Rochester resident, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013. He was predeceased by Ilana, his wife of 42 years, parents Nuta and Toyba, and sister Kaila(Lou). He is survived by daughters Raanana (Bill) Bernstein, Mickey (Michalle) Felmet and husband Jim, granddaughter Alysha Jeanette Loveria, and sisters-in-law Yocheved and Penina. He is also survived by Garrick Loveria Jr.(Wendy), Michele Wallen and children Patrick Jr, Bethany, and Daniel. He was a beloved uncle and great-uncle to Carol,David, Rita, Toby(Sam)Miriam, Lilit, Daniel (Alex) and Samuel.
Jacob graduated from Albright College and Brooklyn Law.
A WWII veteran, Jake was an attorney in Rochester and Honeyoye and a teacher at Temple Beth El. Jake (Yankel) will always be cherished for his kindness, wit, love of good discussion and lifelong involvement in interfaith dialogue. Even in his 90's,he was a dedicated participant in the Children of Abraham group. The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the caring, compassionate staff at St. Louise Manor and James G. Johnston Nursing Home, as well as to Rabbi Tziona Szajman.
Jake donated his body to medical research to further medical knowledge.
An informal memorial gathering will be held on Sunday June 16th at 10 am at Temple Israel,4737 Deerfield Pl, off of Clubhouse Rd, next to St. Vincent DePaul Church.
Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Jake's name to the "Jewish Education Fund" at Temple Israel or PETA, as Jake was a lifelong vegetarian dedicated to animal welfare.
