Janis Wallenstein
of Binghamton
Janis Wallenstein, the beloved wife of Larry Wallenstein, cherished mother of Zachary and Joshua Wallenstein, and a dear friend to many, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning after a prolonged illness.
A Guidance Counselor at Whitney Point High School, Janis cared deeply for each and every one of her students, many of which she remained in contact with long after they walked across the stage with their diplomas, attending their weddings, holding their children, and other milestone events had by her students. Janis could often be found in the living room with a mystery novel in hand, and Food Network on the TV, but not in the kitchen. Janis enjoyed traveling down to the warmth of North Carolina to visit family, and enjoyed time in Queens for large family get-togethers for Thanksgiving, Passover, Christmas and she was always the light of the party.
Janis is predeceased by her mother Sylvia (Altman) Lehrer , father Moe Lehrer, and her sister, Leslie Carbone. Her brother Robert Lehrer also survives her.
