Giovanni (Johnny) Antonio DeMarco, 50, of Kirkwood, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 2nd while doing what he loved: mountain biking. Born in Houston, TX to Ellen Sipple and the late John DeMarco Sr., Johnny was a kind, humble and compassionate man, who prioritized helping those he loved. Highly intelligent, forward thinking with a quick wit and insatiable quest for adventure and knowledge, Johnny lived a fully engaged, passionate life. He was known in our community for videography, photography, and the study, application and teaching of optimal health.
Johnny was unshakeable and unstoppable when focused. He was dedicated to health, fitness, music and the sun: which nourished his mind and body. His greatest joy was supporting his family, especially his beloved daughter Angelica. Johnny graduated from Candor High School, SUNY Broome and was pursuing his advanced degree in data science. He was an Eagle scout and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was the Manager of Data Analytics at UHS, which he enjoyed and was highly esteemed.
Johnny was predeceased by his father John Sr., sister Shirley and Father in Law Philip Swan. He is survived by mother Ellen (Sipple) DeMarco, wife Renée Swan DeMarco and daughter Angelica DeMarco; sisters Crystal DeMarco (Doug), Georgia DeResta and Patty Lawton; brother Louis (Nicole) DeMarco, nephew Nick; Mother in Law Barbara Swan; Brother in Law Brian (Michelle) Swan, niece Camille Swan; Uncles Bill (Pat) and Harold (Shirley) Chamberlain; Aunts Jean Hillman and Gail Harvey; along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny had a very close group of friends: too many to name individually, but a core group who grew together as men.
Though we feel we lost him too soon, there is solace in hearing stories from the people whose lives he touched. He led by example and we are honored to have been loved by such a man.
