John J. Spencer Jr.

John J. Spencer Jr., of Chenango Town, passed away surrounded by family on August 14, 2024, after a long battle with illness. He is survived by his wife 31 years Sherry Wegge; children John Spencer III, Jennifer (Mark) Spencer-Brown, Judith Spencer, and Jeffrey Spencer; grandchildren Jessica, Justin, Skyler, Hannah, Jade, Willow, Alyssa; and great-grandchildren Leah and Ava.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, donuts, and the outdoors.

His parents were first-generation Americans; his mother was Polish; and his father was German and English. He was an athlete, participating in soccer, baseball, football, and basketball in high school. He loved the Yankees and Buffalo Bills. He had a big unforgettable laugh.

He worked for the State Attorney General's office, Dept of Transportation, and several pipeline companies throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League.

He was a devoted husband, son, and father who loved being in nature with his family.

Calling hours will be held at E H Parsons Funeral Home on Monday, August 19 from 10-11 with a service to follow. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City with a military service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
