Juanita Bowen Rhodes
Juanita (86), surrounded by her family, went to be with her Lord, husband and family members on May 8, 2012 after an extended illness.  
She was predeceased by her husband Luther in 2009, her brothers E.C., Horace and Buddy Bowen, and sister Esther Hester.  She is survived by her only daughter Joyce Rhodes-Keefe (Jeffrey Keefe) grandchildren Danielle, Matthew, Alyssa and Nicole Keefe, all of Binghamton and many of her extended family in Bladenboro, NC.   Juanita would like to say a final ”howdy” to the staff and all her friends at Lourdes Lifetime Fitness who put a sparkle in her eye and smile on her face with each grand entrance.  The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr .Michael Barrett and staff, Dr. Eric Heister and staff, the staff and all the special, caring people at Lourdes Hospital on Seton 3, ICU, Respiratory Therapy and everyone at Hospice.  Thank you also to Broome County CASA, Office for Aging, and especially Meals on Wheels and its volunteers that bring meals and special friendship. One final thank you to Julie, Juanita’s home health aide and very special friend, for all her help these past days and months- you held a very special place in her heart and we feel so very blessed. Although Juanita always titled herself “the luckiest Granny in the world” we find ourselves thinking that we are the lucky ones. Love you Mom, “Be sweet”. The family will receive friends at Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street, Binghamton NY, on Saturday, May 12th from 1-3 PM, prayer service to follow.   In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Catholic Charities Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels of Western Broome or a charity of your choice.
