Leona (Klantik) Ricciardi

Leona "Ella" Ricciardi, 95, passed away Feb. 14, 2015. She was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Charleroi, Pa., the daughter of John and Elizabeth Klantik. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Genesio "Gondo" Ricciardi. She was also predeceased by her brother, Joseph. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Adrienne Ricciardi, grandson Daniel Ricciardi, granddaughter Ellen Ricciardi, and many nieces and nephews, including Don (Linda) Kintner, Michael (Deborah) Ricciardi, Lawrence Ricciardi, Kathy (Joseph) Gallagher and Judy (John) Heisler.
After growing up in Garfield, NJ., and later Owego, N.Y., she moved to the Binghamton area, where she married. She and her husband owned Gondo's Restaurant and Lounge in Binghamton for many years. She treated everyone with respect and every patron like a guest. She had a strong sense of humor and a capacity for enjoying life. She was an excellent cook and an artist in the kitchen, and a loving mother and grandmother. The family would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Willow Point Nursing Home, who cared for her during the last 11 years of her life. Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Leona’s name to the American Arthritis Foundation.
Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday February 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, 71 Main Street, Binghamton, NY.
