Of Binghamton
Margaret Eleanor Tyarks, entered into eternal rest Sunday  August 19th, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Born in New York City February 8, 1921, daughter of Peter and Anna Tyarks, sister of Anna Weinkauf and Louise Tyarks.  Margaret (Marge) later moved with her family to Johnson City, New York, where she graduated from Johnson City High School and the Charles F. Wilson School of Nursing before entering the U.S. Army as an Officer and Registered Nurse.  Marge served in World War II and the Korean War, as well as serving with distinction in many posts in Asia, Europe, and the United States.  She retired from the U.S. Army Nurse Corps with the rank of Major.  Upon retirement, Marge enrolled in Broome Community College and earned an Associates Degree in 1974.  She also worked as a Registered Nurse and retired from the Binghamton State Hospital.  Marge always had a strong love of animals and was appointed a Peace Officer by New York State and worked with the New York State Police and local agencies for many years on animal cruelty and abuse cases.  A communicant of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Binghamton, Marge continued to remain active in Catholic charities throughout her life.  

Marge resided for many years at 4 Rubin Avenue in Binghamton where she made many lifetime friendships with neighbors, and most recently lived at St. Louise Manor on Upper Front Street, Binghamton.  Marge is survived by Dennis (Butch) and Pat King of Dansville, New York, Jessica King of Arlington, Virginia, many friends and loving neighbors.  Special friends include Connie, Nicholas, Jackie, Barb, Laura, and Melodie.

Friends may call at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street Binghamton NY. Tuesday August 21, 2012 from 5;00 to 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday
