Mary (Halaburka, Tinkunas) Vasina, Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, (Baba), and great grandmother went home to be with her Savior Jesus surrounded by her loving family on July 8th, 2011. Mary was born December 9th, 1921 here in Binghamton.
She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Anastacia Halaburka, her first husband Charles (Charcoal) Tinkunas, daughter Mary (Liz) Elizabeth Susko, and her sisters Sue Lisick and Anna Cruty.
Mary is survived by her husband of forty eight years John Vasina, daughters: Charlotte (Lee) Tinkunas , Mary Tanner and her fiancé Jim Malonis, Margie (Joe) McCarthy, her son John (Jack)and his wife Jill Vasina, her sister Julie Gober as well as ten grandchildren , fifteen great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and a Mothers' Guild member. The family will receive friends on Monday July 11th from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street Binghamton NY. Father Peter Tomas will offer Parastas at the funeral home Monday at 7:15 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church Clinton Street Binghamton for the Divine Liturgy. Internment will follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery.
She was our shining star and the Queen of the family. Special thanks to Dr. S. Pathman, Lourdes Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful, caring treamment given to our Mother. In lieu of flowers those wishing may direct donations to the Holy Spirit Church Building Fund.
