Mildred E. Moore, 96, went to be with the Lord, Friday September 2nd, 2011 at the home of her daughter Carol Northrup.  She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Franklin D. Moore and by her brother Karl Harrington. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Sue Moore, Danbury, CT; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Northrup, Buffalo, NY; and four grandchildren, Aimee and Allison Moore, Danbury, CT, Ashley and Jared Northrup, Buffalo, NY; and one great-grandson, Alexander Franklin, Buffalo, NY; one sister-in-law, Betty Moore, Newport Beach, CA; a niece, Doris Harrington, Reno, NV; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred graduated from Greene High School, Greene, NY and Oneonta State Teachers College with a degree in education. She taught at Port Dickinson Elementary School. Mildred was a librarian at Vestal Free Library for many years.

After retiring, she traveled extensively with her husband, going to places such as Mexico, Hawaii and Europe. She was also an active volunteer. She assisted her husband, who was president of the Vestal Senior Center, with many trips and activities. She was honored for her 2500 hours of volunteer services at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was a long time member of Christ Episcopal Church, having served as the trustee of the Christ Church Trust Fund and the Saint Ann’s Ladies Guild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church, 10 Henry Street, Binghamton. Rev. Janet Watrous will officiate. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at Christ Church prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene, NY. Arrangements are with the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home 71 Main Street Binghamton NY.
