Patricia (Spiak) Filiak

Patricia Spiak Filiak, a former resident of Binghamton and Chenango Bridge, NY died peacefully December 20, 2014, at the age of 93 years, surrounded by family in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband -- Peter Filiak of Binghamton, NY in 1998. She is survived by her daughter Kathy and her husband Cyril Macinka, Myrtle Beach, S.C, son Paul and his wife Colleen Filiak, Pittsburgh, Pa. Her  grandchildren – Lindsay and her husband Jon Exline, St Louis, Mo , Melissa Macinka, Myrtle Beach S.C ,Kelly Filiak, Washington D.C., and Kristine Filiak, Columbus, Ohio.    

Patricia was born in Zyndia, Poland in February 1921 and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (nee Smereczniak) Spiak.  Patricia immigrated to the U.S. at 16 sent by her parents to embrace a better life.

Patricia was fond of higher education and made sure her children and grandchildren attended college.  She was fluent in Polish, Russian, and English.  She owned a catering business for over 20 years in Binghamton.

At her request the funeral will be private. Burial will be at Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell NY next to her husband.
