Phyllis Tandlich, 85, went to join her beloved husband, Herbie on January 22. Phyllis is survived by her children, Richard (Silvia Piza-Tandlich) and Jamie (Nancy Dorfman) and granddaughters, Rachel, Jenna, Brenda and Becky. Phyllis inspired a sense of adventure and love of travel in her children and grandchildren. Rachel and Jenna are each fortunate to have spent a summer living with Grandma Phyllis in Riverdale, forging bonds and building memories that will be with them forever.
A teacher for over 30 years, Phyllis remained a lifelong learner who enjoyed reading the NY Times every day. An avid movie lover, Phyllis saw more films than most critics. Although she only lived in Binghamton for a short time, her warm, outgoing personality enabled her to build a new community; Jamie and Nancy’s friends made her feel a part of their families as well. Special thanks to Dr. Michele Boyle and the Lourdes Hospice staff for their compassionate care and dedication.
Funeral services will be held at Temple Concord on January 24 at 10 AM. Shiva will be observed on January 25 from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM and on January 26 from 7 to 9 PM.
