Rene' Martinez

Rene’ Martinez 82, passed peacefully, in his home on the morning of 11/17/16. He was comfortable, safe and surrounded by his family.  
Rene was a survivor with a tenacious spirit; he came to this country from Cuba on a raft with 11 other men.  He then served in the United States Army. He was married to the famous singer Emilita Dago and she helped him raise his three sons. He was predeceased by his son Rene’ Martinez Jr. in 2013. His son Juan has been missing since 1997 and He is Survived by his son Jose,  his wife Kristen and  his beloved daughter in law Helena Renda, and four grandchildren  Jose Martinez Jr., Jessica Borges, Adrian Martinez and Desiree Martinez.
He spent most of his life as a self-employed jack of all trades. He protected and provided for his family. He lived between New York City and Miami most of his life and moved to Binghamton to be closer to his family in 2004. He was a strong presence and will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones.
