Ruth T. (Thayer) Mulford

Ruth Thayer Mulford, age 89 died on February 19, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital with her family by her side.  Her husband, Theodore E. Mulford predeceased her August 12, 2010.  She is also predeceased by her parents Charles Edmund Thayer and Lillian Long Thayer, two brothers, Frederick E. and John E. Thayer and sister, Joan Marie Thayer.  She is survived by her son, Barth Parker Mulford and his wife, Rebecca, and a sister, Colleen Ann Thayer.  Also surviving are sister-in-law, Teresa Thayer, wife of Frederick, nieces Patricia Ann Thayer, Colleen Marie Thayer Rovder and her husband, Michael, and great niece, Hailey Gabriel Thayer, two nephews, Richard Thomas and Gary Thayer and Gary's wife, Gloria.  Ruth was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, however, she was a long time resident of Binghamton.  She graduated from Binghamton Central High School.  Later she joined the Marine Midland Bank as secretary to the president until her retirement.  She was a sustainer of the Junior League and Monday Afternoon Club-Phelps Mansion Museum for more than fifty years.  She and Theodore were also sustainers of the Roberson Museum. Earlier, Ruth was a Grey Lady at Lourdes Hospital.  She was also a member of the Tuscarora Chapter of the DAR.  Ruth enjoyed reading, gardening, sighting birds, traveling with her husband, family and friends, the arts and the Tri Cities Opera. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting dinner parties throughout her life. She loved playing bridge at the Binghamton Club with her various card groups and friends. Funeral services will be announced by the family in the upcoming weeks.  Interment will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, friends may make a contribution to the Tri-Cities Opera or Lourdes Hospital Foundation in Ruth's memory.  The family extends their appreciation and thanks to Lourdes Hospital, Hospice and Susquehanna Rehabilitation Center for their support and care.
