Sandra M. Lazaroff, age 78, of Vestal, NY, died peacefully on January 26, 2014, at her residence. Preceded in death by her parents, Max and Lillian Nord; husband Norman; brother, Paul. Survived by daughter Deborah (Ted) of Berkshire, NY; son Alan (Risa) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Samuel and Marissa; sister- in- law, Doris, of Miami, FL; nephew Jeff (Sandy) of Princeton, NJ; and niece Jodi (Chris), of Farmingdale, NY.
Sandra was born and raised in New York City, but called Vestal her home for more than thirty years. Sandra was married to Norman for over forty years. She earned her degree in computer science from SUNY Binghamton and worked for many years as a system analyst for United Engineers. She was a long-time member and supporter of Temples’ Beth El, Israel, and Beth David, and of Hadassah, and was a former president and member of Temple Beth Els’ sisterhood. Sandra was a “Master Knitter” and she loved to make mittens, scarves, and sweaters for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed line dancing, gardening, reading, and music. She was buried in New York City with her family.
The family would like to thank Sandra’s caregivers, especially Tiffany, Steph, Deb, Tracy, and Juanita, who provided Sandra with compassionate assistance in her last years.
