It is with deep sadness that we share that Sheryl Anne Corser O’Brien of Binghamton NY passed away on August 2, 2021 . She was surrounded by her loving family at home. Sheryl was predeceased by her father, Herbert Corser; her infant grandson, Jake Haynes; her brother-in-law, David Mann: and many treasured Aunts and Uncles.
Sheryl is survived by her dear mother, Mary Louise Corser; her beloved children, Kelly (Jason) Riegel, Kerry (Rick Haynes) and Kevin O'Brien (Teresa Brett); her sweet grandchildren, Shana, Liam, and Aaron O'Brien and Brock and Logan Haynes; her loving brothers and sisters, Daniel Corser, David (Jennifer) Corser, Eileen Mann, and Maureen ( Scott ) Singer; her cherished Aunt Patricia Guinane; special cousin and lifelong friend Patti Lanzo; many caring and close cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sheryl grew up on the West Side of Binghamton where she attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Catholic Central High School, and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. She enjoyed spending her summers with family and friends at Oquaga Lake and winters on the ice rink at Recreation Park where she excelled at speed skating.
Sheryl was retired from the New York State Broome Developmental Center. For many years she was able to devote her kind spirit and generous heart to helping those in need. Sheryl was also a talented wallpapering specialist; being self-employed in the business, she worked alongside her brother and best friend Danny to create beautifully wallpapered houses and hotels throughout the area.
As her children were growing up she was always the first to volunteer for coaching, baking, being room mom, and fundraising. Sheryl was a kind soul who was always there to make sure that everyone had fun and everyone had a chance. She loved being a Mom to her three children and she wholeheartedly embraced being a second Mom to their childhood friends. Above all, Gammy absolutely adored her grandchildren. She treasured their trips to the lakes, the beach, and every moment that she spent with them.
The family would like to thank the wonderful teams from Lourdes Palliative Care and Lourdes Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Sheryl may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old
