Sonia (Berer) Kessler

Sonia Berer Kessler
Born May 30, 1931 in The Bronx NY. Wife of Milton, Mother of David, Paula and Daniel, Grandmother of Aaron, Jonah, Jason, Jordan, Mina, Molly, and Olivia. Sunni was an inspired and committed teacher to a generation of fifth grade students at MacArthur Elementary School. Overflowing with energy, intelligence, compassion, humor and love for her family and friends. Her strength, liveliness, and candor were enjoyed by all who knew her, up to her final days.

Together with Milton, she traveled the world, living for months or more in Israel, Belgium, England, and Hawaii. She loved the sun and the beach. She loved to read, cook, and entertain at her home on Lincoln Avenue, together with friends on the front porch. She was an active and engaged member of the SUNY and Jewish communities. She loved her life.

Funeral service will be held at 10am Thursday at Beth David Synagogue in Binghamton. We ask that donations in Sonia’s memory be made to rebuild Temple Israel, 4737 Deerfield Place, Vestal NY 13850.
