Violet (Vi) Ostrosky, 90 of Johnson City, passed away peacefully early on Friday April 5, 2013 at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home.
Born in Blacksburg, Virginia , February 6, 1923, one of ten children born to the late Irene N. (Camper) and James Wiley Oliver, and where she met the love of her life Daniel Ostrosky, of Boston MA. They were married on July 29, 1944 until his death on April 8, 2004.
Surviving Violet are her daughter and son in law Sondra (Ostrosky) and David Pruden, of Endwell, NY, her granddaughter Lisa (Pruden) and Andrew Campana, of London, England, grandson Derek Pruden, of Redondo Beach, CA., a great granddaughter Rosabella Violet Campana, also of London and one sister Mrs. Sally Gordon, of Stuarts Draft ,Va., as well as several nieces and nephews. Violet was known for her baked goodies, her southern cooking, her wonderful smile and laugh and the lilt of a southern accent. She was always so proud to be Dan's wife and Sondra's mother and dedicated her life to her family. She spent the past few months at JGJ moving into Hilltop Campus in 2004 where she made numerous friends over the years. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hilltop who assisted her over the years, as well as those at JGJ who cared for her these past few months. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Chaplains Fund at Hilltop Campus, 286 Deyo Hill Road, JC 13790.
A Graveside Service officiated by Reverend Diane Prentice and Reverend Douglas Taylor will be held Monday April 8th at 2:00 P.M. at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date at Hilltop Campus. Please visit ParsonsFuneral.Com to offer your condolences.
