William was born September 12, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of the late Beulah (Johnson) and Fred Elias Smith. William (Douglas) was a world-class Physicist (undergraduate) at Arizona State University: a PHD from the State university of New York at Binghamton. He also taught as a professor at Binghamton and a physicist for many years, worked on many government contracts, that could not be discussed. William also worked on the F 14 and F 16 fighter jets for Lockheed Martin. William developed liquid guiding systems for missiles. He was a devoted husband of 37 years , that cared for his wife with loving care to help her. He was a devoted catholic and a member of St Vincent Parish. He was very inspirational to all his family on the importance of a higher education. He is survived by his sister Debra Ann Villanueva, his brother Daniel Busbey, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
