William Whitman, 83, of Vestal, passed away Sunday November 6th, 2016 at the Bridgewater Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born December 14, 1932 in Scranton, PA. The son of the Late Morris R. and Clara (Barton) Whitman. He was also predeceased by his five siblings.
William graduated from Scranton Tech High School in 1952. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. William was a past employee of Endicott Johnson Corporation. William retired from I.B.M. Owego with nearly 35 years of service and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of both the VFW Post # 1449 and American Legion Post # 80    William’s greatest passion was his work with the Free and Accepted Masons, Round Hill Lodge #533, Royal Arch Masons Scottish Rite, Valley of Binghamton-Otseningo Bodies, and the Kalurah Shriners, Endicott, NY. William was devoted to many, many projects associated with restoration of the former Binghamton Masonic Temple.
Surviving William are his loving wife Catherine M. (Reuben), at home, his son David (Donna) Whitman, of Vestal, his granddaughters; Crystal (Tim) Boll, Amy (Omar) Avila, his great granddaughter, Evelyn Avila as well as his dear friend Rose Finch.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday November 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, 71 Main Street, Binghamton, NY. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend Jose Valencia officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverhurst Cemetery.
