Obituary for Winifred Zeigler:
Winifred Zeigler, age 100, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 24th, 2011 at Good Shepherd Fairview Home. Born the third child of Martin E. and Edith Beardsley Fox in Triangle, New York, she attended high school in Green, New York and college at Cortland Normal (SUNY Cortland). In 1933, she married Walter Hamilton Zeigler and moved to Apalachin, New York where she taught school and was later a principal. In 1947, Winn and Walt settled in Binghamton where she taught 4th grade at Benjamin Franklin School for many years. She was a long-time member and officer at West Presbyterian Church.
Winn and Walt enjoyed vacation time at the family cottage at Petonia Lake and traveling with friends. At Good Shepherd, Winn was active, attending Bible study and prayer group, hand- painting ceramics, and playing cards.
She is predeceased by her parents, older siblings, Faye and Evalene Fox, nephew Ivan Fox, and her husband of sixty three years. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Rev. Suzanne and Dr. Richard Currie of Belle Vernon, PA and two grandchildren, Karen Lynn Currie of Alexandria, VA and Michael Richard Currie and his wife Briianna of Gaithersburg, MD, nieces Frances Bazaar and Evelyn Roth and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be at E.H. Parsons Funeral Home71 Main Street Binghamton from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Wednesday, December 28th followed by a memorial service at noon with internment at Vestal Hills. Inn lieu flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to First Presbyterian Church, 511 Fayette St., Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
